6 top Toast facts
1. Each winery creates its own style, combining wine, food and music for a brilliant day out in the boutique Martinborough Wine Village
2. Only 10,000 tickets are available and as festival-goers spread out around the 10 winery sites it's very civilised without a squeeze (except maybe at the Beat Girls final performance at Palliser Estate at the end of the day)
3. New season's wines will be released and the signs are all pointing towards an excellent vintage. There will also be selected sold-out wines that have been kept back especially for Toast Martinborough – so some superb wine tasting is on offer
4. Great wine needs great food – and some of the region's best are cooking up their specialities (think Ruth Pretty's whitebait fritters and Salute's crispy fried pork belly) plus culinary creations from prominent Wellington restaurants like Pravda, Shed 5 and Chameleon
5. Music adds the final touch – local favourites like The Warratahs, The Beat Girls, Nairobi Trio and Rhombus create different moods as participants wander between wineries
6. Vodafone's free TXT Alert service (simply TXT 'TOAST MARTINBOROUGH' to 787) will keep Vodafone customers up to date with TXT alerts including info on bands, tickets, the weather and other important details about the festival
