Boy Bitten By His Family’s Dog
A seven-year-old boy was bitten at his Flaxmere home late yesterday afternoon by a two-year-old male pitbull owned by his family.
Reports are that the boy’s mother was feeding the animal at the time when the boy approached the dog and was attacked.
The boy suffered a severe bite and was taken to Hawke’s Bay Regional Hospital.
The family had only had the dog for three days.
The family have volunteered the dog to Animal Control and will it be destroyed this morning.
Animal Control Officer, Clynton Chadwick, says investigations into the incident are continuing.
