Sunday drivers reminded to stay clear of bus stops

The introduction of Sunday buses to Hamilton’s streets from 28 September will also bring the introduction of Sunday
parking enforcement.
With the new 7-day bus service, the Hamilton parking team will be out and about to help keep bus stops clear.
Previously, with no buses running on Sundays, parking staff were not on duty.
Parking enforcement manager Janice Burns says that staff will be actively monitoring city bus stops, so anyone parking
there risks a high chance of receiving an infringement notice.
“You can no longer park in Bus Stops in the city on Sunday without risking a parking ticket. The parking team will also
be helping to keep disabled parks, broken yellow lines and footpaths clear.
“Keeping bus stops and other safety related parking areas clear will be our only focus on Sundays as all metered street
parking will continue to be free and without time limits.”
The Sunday and Public Holiday services will run on twelve key routes including the Orbiter, Pukete, Silverdale,
Dinsdale, Glenview, Nawton, Fairfield, University, Rototuna, Hamilton East Uni and Te Rapa services.
The city Orbiter service will change its hours to: • 6.15am - 10pm Monday to Friday • 6.15am - 8pm Saturday and Sunday.
The Hamilton City Council parking team will be on duty this Sunday leaving notes on cars parked in bus stops to let them
know that this is the last weekend they will be able to park there without being fined. To celebrate the introduction of
Sunday buses, all services on Sunday 28 September will be free.
