Auckland Heritage Festival opening looms
A free event at Auckland Museum on Thursday, 18 September marks the anniversary of Auckland’s founding day – and the start of this year’s Auckland Heritage Festival.
The event features a display of historical images from the past 168 years projected onto the museum’s northern façade after dusk.
Arts, Culture and Recreation chairperson, Councillor Greg Moyle, encourages all Aucklanders to come along and enjoy the spectacle. “This is a fantastic opportunity to relive our city’s shared history with friends and family,” he says.
The Auckland Heritage Festival is a celebration of Auckland city’s unique natural, social and built heritage that includes more than 100 exciting, diverse and interactive events between 20 September and 5 October.
Popular events return and many new events have been added to create a wide and varied programme that coincides with part of the school holidays.
Bookings are filling fast – get the festival programme with full details by visiting www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/heritagefestival or phoning 379 2020.
