Land Purchases Confirmed For New Stadium
All the land purchases necessary for construction of the new Stadium are now confirmed with unconditional agreements in place, says Carisbrook Stadium Trust Chairperson Malcolm Farry.
“We are pleased to have reached this important milestone in the pathway to completion of a new Stadium for Dunedin and Otago.
“Settlement of five of the nine land parcels occurred on 31 July 2008. The remaining settlements will occur on 31 October 2008 and 31 October 2009.
“The nine parcels provide the land necessary to build the new Stadium, to extend the University of Otago campus zone to allow for future growth and to realign State Highway 88 to improve traffic flows along the harbour arterial route.
“The Stadium development is full steam ahead with the land acquired, detailed design work underway, private sector fundraising progressing well and construction due to start in early 2009.
“That means we are on track for Stadium completion by 2011,” said Mr Farry.
