Nominations are being called for this year $B!G (Bs Christchurch Civic Awards.
The awards are an opportunity for the city to say thank you to the many people and organisations whose efforts contribute to the life of the community.
Mayor Bob Parker says $B!H (BEvery city depends on amazing individuals who excite us all to get involved in their particular issues. They are public entrepreneurs. $B!I (B
$B!H (BThey give of themselves in a way that is often never thanked and the Civic Award is the highest award that as a city, we can give them. It $B!G (Bs a very special ceremony and their families and those who have nominated them are invited to one great night of celebration. $B!I (B
Any individual or organisation can be nominated for an award. Categories include recreation, youth activities, social welfare, educational services, cultural affairs, religious studies or any other substantial service, usually of a voluntary nature, that helps to further the vision of Christchurch outlined in the Council $B!G (Bs long-term community plan.
Successful nominees will receive a framed certificate and boxed medallion from the Mayor at a Civic Reception in late November. Nominations close on Friday 5 September 2008.
