Honesty Still Around
1 August 2008
Thanks to the honesty of a woman, a Christchurch couple will still be heading off on an overseas holiday.
Yesterday a woman parking her car in the Northlands Mall ran over a bank bag containing a large amount of overseas currency. She immediately took it into a local bank which contacted Papanui police. Eventually the cash was tracked back to having been issued at a city bank earlier in the day and the owner identified.
Police contacted the person's home, to be advised the owner was enroute to report the loss so police were pleased to be able to return it to them last night.
Papanui assistant Watch house keeper Paul Johns says that it is wonderful to see such honesty and the couple can now continue with their overseas trip to see family and friends.
