Reregister your dog by 31 July and save money
Manukau dog owners are being urged to reregister their pets before 31 July to avoid potential fines and fees of more than $645.
Manager City Environment Mohammed Hassan says we’re concerned at the low numbers as its important to remember being a responsible dog owner is making sure it is registered.
“Registration numbers are down from last years figures. About 8500 dogs so far have been registered down from 17,500 in 2007.
“All registration fees are used to maintain a safe and healthy environment for residents, dog owners and their pets,” says Mr Hassan.
After 31 July unregistered dogs will be seized unless their owner pays a late registration fee in cash of $120. The owner will also be issued a $300 fine whether or not they register the dog. If the late registration fee is not paid and the dog is seized, the owner will have to pay the late registration fee, a $300 fine, and applicable shelter fees.
Registration fees can be made at any PostShop or at the council’s Customer Centre, Kotuku House, Manukau Square. For more information contact the council’s Call Centre on 262 5104.
