Last chance for feedback on Aotea Square’s new look
There are only five days left for people to have their say on Aotea Square’s proposed new look. Public consultation on
the draft design to revitalise Auckland’s civic square closes this Friday, 1 August, at 5pm.
The council is seeking comments on design aspects such as the proposed trees, paving, seating, lighting and relocation
of art works.
There has been strong interest since public consultation on the Aotea Square draft design opened on 10 July, with
hundreds of people providing feedback online or by post.
The $25 million square upgrade is part of an estimated $80 million project that includes repairing the Civic car park
roof ($45 million) and improving the front of the Aotea Centre ($10 million).
People can view the draft design and have their say by:
• visiting www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/aotea
• phoning 379 2020 for a brochure and feedback form
• visiting the council’s display in the Aotea Centre.
Construction work is due to start in November 2008 and be finished by October 2010, in time for the Rugby World Cup
2011.
NB: All costs are estimates subject to competitive tender.
