St Matthew’s Remembers Victims of Child Abuse
It seems not a month goes by without a horrific child abuse story being reported on in the media. To commemorate the
senseless loss of young lives throughout our country, St Matthew-in-the-City is holding a special service in August
titled It’s Not OK: When will child abuse stop?
The service will remember those who have suffered through violence and abuse. Members of the public are invited to
attend and express their concern and acknowledge the suffering of these children, as well as offer thanks to those who
care for victims of child abuse.
Retired Youth Court Judge Mick Brown and Mayor of Waitakere City, Bob Harvey, of the “It’s Not OK” campaign will present
at the service, and there will be a performance from The Graduate Choir.
The service has been held three times in the past, at St Matthew’s and once at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell.
St Matthew’s invites all members of the public to attend the service, and warmly welcomes them to stay for afternoon tea
