North Shore Police are appealing to the public for urgent information on the whereabouts of a five and half year old child who has been abducted from her home in Albany.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kim Libby of the North Shore CIB says the incident happened at about 12.30pm today Monday 14 July 2008. He says the young Asian girl was on her bike playing on the footpath outside her home in Harrowglen when she was abducted.
A masked man who was the sole occupant and driver of an unidentified silver car has stopped and grabbed the girl and put her into the vehicle. The car has then sped from the scene. The abduction was witnessed by the victim's eight year old cousin. He and the parents are being interviewed by police.
Police have cordoned off the address and nearly streets while officers carry out door to door enquiries speaking to neighbours and friends of the family. Authorities at airports have been notified of the incident and a photo of the girl distributed to necessary staff.
