Christchurch Police are investigating a series of fires in which cars have been set alight.
The cars were parked in various locations, on the roadsides in Bishopdale, Redwood, Avondale and Casebrook.
On the evening of Wednesday 25 June five parked vehicles were set alight. Last night another six cars were set on fire, one of which was in a building.
"We believe these fires are linked," says Detective Sergeant Andrew Fabish. "It is an extremely dangerous thing to do, both for the public and the person(s) lighting the fires. There is always the danger of explosion and surrounding buildings or vegetation catching alight."
Anyone with information regarding these fires or suspicious cars seen in these suburbs is asked to contact New Brighton Police.
