Fire At City Premises
New Zealand Police Canterbury News Release
26 June 2008
Police are investigating a fire at a city clothing distribution house but are unable to get access yet until it is cleared by Fire Service.
In the early hours of this morning an alarm was activated at AZTEC Clothing and Luggage premises on Colombo Street (north side of South City car park). The owner arrived to find clothing and luggage etc on fire inside.
The premises appear to have been extensively damaged says DSS David Harvey, but at this stage because of the construction of the building, police are unable to go inside.
"We're awaiting safety reports from Fire, before the scene examination can be conducted." he says. "We're in the process of talking to the owner and other persons of interest."
