Major Brazilian Artist to Perform in Nelson
A pioneer of Bossanova, and icon of popular music in Brazil will open the 2nd Annual Play It Again Auction to benefit The Nelson School of Music.
Singer songwriter Jose Barrense-Dias, will perform at a gala concert on Friday, 7 November and Play It Again Auction Organiser, Joe Rifici says it’s quite a coup to have Jose visit Nelson.
“When we explained the Play it Again concept to Jose he was very excited about it and wanted to be part of it,” Joe says. “Jose is a huge star in Brazil, he’s released more than 20 albums and is invited to perform at many famous festivals around the world, so we are very fortunate to be able to bring him to Nelson.”
In July this year Jose Barrense-Dias is playing at the Concert Paléo Festival at Nyon Suisse and in October he is presenting his new show 'Canta Brasil' at Centre Culturel des Terraux in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Organisers are planing an additional Nelson concert by Jose Barrense-Dias in the week leading up to the auction.
Joe Rifici says a novel feature of this year’s Play It Again auction will be simultaneous live and on-line bidding for musical instruments and equipment.
He says they’re introducing the involvement of www.sellnelson.co.nz   for the internet part of the auction, as well as hosting the Play It Again ‘storefront’ on their website. Instruments can be viewed on line as they come in from the public and sponsors from now until the auction, and some will have a ‘Buy Now’ option.
Last year’s successful event was a triple win for owners auctioning their pre-loved gear, buyers who walked away with great deals (often on unusual items) and The Nelson School of Music who benefited financially and connected to the community in a novel way.
Play It Again Auction is now accepting instruments and sound/recording equipment for this year’s fundraiser, which will begin with the concert and auction on Friday 7th November and continue through to Saturday afternoon.
Instruments or gear for donation or auction on behalf can be left at reception at The Nelson School of Music in Nile Street, Nelson.
