Bodies On Railway Wagon Identified

The bodies of two young men recovered from the top of a railway wagon in a Christchurch rail yard early this morning have been identified
Next of kin are in the process of being notified.
A post mortem will take place however Police believe the deaths are not suspicious.
The two bodies of the men were discovered early this morning by a Toll Rail employee who called police. They were on top of a tarpaulin on a wagon.
"What these two young men appear to have been doing was a very dangerous thing," says Detective Senior Sergeant John Rae. "It was fatal for them.
"The railway business has a lot of dangers attached- even crossing a track; you must be aware of the dangers that exist. Trains are big and heavy and are not easy to stop."
Investigations are still being made to establish where the men climbed onto the wagon and how far they travelled.
