A 24 year-old Mangere man will appear in the Auckland District Court today charged with the manslaughter of 61 year-old Onehunga resident Graham Wallace Arcus who died in Auckland Hospital on Tuesday morning [May 20] after being assaulted at about 9.20pm on Saturday, May 17.
The accused was located at his Mangere home last night and formally charged with Mr Arcus' manslaughter this morning.
Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Cramer said news of the arrest has been well-received by Mr Arcus' family who have found the tragic ordeal of his sudden death very difficult since he was attacked on Manukau Rd a few hundred metres from his home on Saturday night.
"The assistance we received from witnesses over the past few days has enabled us to progress this inquiry at considerable speed and we and the family are very grateful for that," Mr Cramer said.
