SUBJECT: Fatal Vehicle Crash - Request for further witnesses DATE: 07/05/2008 11:20 AM LOCATION:
Wainoni Road at the intersection with Bickerton Street, Christchurch
The Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances around a motor vehicle crash on Wainoni Road just east of the intersection of Bickerton Street at 11.20 am on Wednesday 14 May 2008. A woman pedestrian, since identified as Nancy Alice MEADOWS died as a result of being struck by a car travelling Wainoni Road at this time and location. Police have spoken to several witnesses but are hoping to identify further witnesses who have not yet spoken to Police.
They are interested in identifying the movements of Nancy MEADOWS prior to the crash. She is described as a female of European descent aged approximately in her 70's or 80's.
She was partially blind and was in possession of but may not have been using a white cane. She was wearing a white woollen hat, multi coloured woollen jersey and tartan woollen trousers. Should anyone be able to assist please contact Senior Constable Warren Dwyer at New Brighton Police Station.
