Percival Road Open Day
Hastings District Council held a public open day at the new athletics track on Percival Road on Saturday.
One hundred and fifty people attended the Open Day as well as Councillors, council officers and members of the project management team led by Kelt Capital Ltd.
Deputy Mayor Cynthia Bowers said it was good to see so many people at the site.
“From little kids running on the new track for the first time to older people who have seen a lot of change in Hastings, everyone was very positive about what’s happening at Percival Road,” said Ms Bowers.
The athletics track is part of a wider proposal to provide a sports and recreation park for Hawke’s Bay. The full proposal includes soccer, tennis and netball facilities, and a velodrome as well as a 2,500 seat grandstand to complement the athletics track. The proposal is currently the subject of public consultation.
Submissions on the proposal close on Monday 26 May with hearings taking place on 16- 17 June.
