Art Invitational at Exhibition Centre
A large sculpture made from found objects has appeared outside the Hawke’s Bay Exhibition Centre thanks to local artist Ricks Terstappen and the Creative Hawke’s Bay Art Invitational.
The Creative Hawke’s Bay Invitational runs until 15 June 2008.
Maree Mills, Exhibition Centre Art Director, said the Invitational brought together a wide range of work from artists with a strong Hawke’s Bay connection.
“This exhibition shows the breadth of work being produced in Hawke’s Bay.  There is controversial work, welcoming work, work from the edge and from the more main-stream.  We are really proud to host this event as it clarifies the relationship between ourselves as a venue and Creative Hawke’s Bay as a supporter of local professional artists,” said Ms Mills.
The Ricks Terstappen piece “Excavation/Exclamation 2008” was created on-site from industrial off-cuts found in a near-by paddock.  To view the piece and the Invitational as a whole visit the Exhibition Centre on Eastbourne Street in Hastings.
