MEDIA RELEASE
Free bus travel for Veterans on ANZAC Day
This coming ANZAC Day, Friday 25 April, NZ Bus in Auckland is offering free bus travel for War Veterans.
Additional early morning Link buses will take people close to the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the Auckland War Memorial Museum. Link buses will be operating from 5.00am every 15 minutes in both directions.
“NZ Bus is pleased to be able to honor the men and women who have fought for our freedom,” says NZ Bus CEO Bruce Emson. “On Friday, communities throughout our region will commemorate the landing of the ANZAC forces at Gallipoli in the Dardanelles in 1915. We hope that by offering free bus travel to our war veterans, we too, will remember.”
Stagecoach, North Star, GO WEST and Link bus drivers have been instructed to give free travel to war veterans, by identifying them through the wearing of their war medals and/or display of RSA badges.
A Sunday timetable will operate on ANZAC Day.
