New Pacific Church Leaders Forum Creates Strategy
Collaboration between Pacific churches in Porirua has taken a new step with a combined high level strategic plan, developed with the assistance of Whitireia Polytechnic. The Porirua Ministers Forum was inspired from the Strong Pacific Families Festivals held in Porirua from 2005 - 2007. There was a need to bring together the church ministers of various Pacific parish communities in a forum that targeted the needs of Pacific families.
In consultation with the Ministry of Social Development, a Deed for the Forum was formulated and a board of 8 church Ministers were elected from the membership and the Forum was officially established.
In the beginning of 2008, Whitireia Community Polytechnic contributed to the development of the forum with the consent from the Chief Executive Officer, Don Campbell, to host Strategic Planning Workshops. A series of workshops were facilitated by the Dean of Business and Information Technology, Michael Fermanis which began in February of 2008, and were completed in mid April. The final draft of the Porirua Ministers Forum was produced and celebrated on April 15th 2008.
