Wellington becomes the cuisine capital when The Food Show comes to town
New Zealand’s hottest culinary event, The Food Show, returns to Wellington from 16 – 18 May.
Wellingtonians who love eating, drinking, cooking and entertaining will find a smorgasbord of the freshest new flavours
and tantalising food ideas – all within arms reach at The Food Show. From artisan to well known brands, garnishes to
staples, The Food Show presents the very best products for your palate – and your plate.
The 2008 show in Wellington has a tempting and tasty line up of local and international exhibitors. Located all under
one roof, more than 150 exhibitors will be showcasing, sampling and selling innovative food, beverage, and entertaining
ideas.
This year visitors are in for a treat with first time exhibitors debuting at The Food Show in Wellington. From
mouth-watering kaimoana to award winning beers and organic produce, visitors will be able to sample a range of delights.
Aotearoa Seafoods will be sampling their delicious Kono mussels, West Coast Brewery have a Green Fern award winning
organic larger, and Leandra Imports will be showcasing Bintang Lager from Indonesia and Storm Beer from Bali.
Venture Southland will be at The Food Show for the first time, displaying regional products such as Blue River Dairy,
Seriously Good Chocolate Company and Back Country Foods. Once again, Hawke’s Bay Wine Country is back on board,
showcasing the region’s best and new companies such as Poesy’s bread, Woodburn Venison and Farmgate Wines.
Other new companies joining The Food Show in Wellington include The Professional Bar School who will be making delicious
non alcoholic cocktails in their flair bartending style, appetizing Brazilian breads from Lua Brazil, Lemon Z with New
Zealand made limoncello, and smoked New Zealand garlic and specialty salts from The Original Smoke & Spice Company.
For visitors with a sweet tooth, don’t miss Lindt, Silky Oak chocolates, and Donovan’s Chocolates who have new flavours
– including feijoa. For the more health conscious – check out Lisa’s Healthy Foods; Annie’s Orchard Treats; The Grove’s
natural New Zealand avocado oils; and Pitango with a delicious range of fresh organic soups.
Food Show visitors keen to expand their kitchen repertoire will be delighted to hear that Lauraine Jacobs is joining the
celebrity chef line-up in 2008. Lauraine will be demonstrating in the Electrolux Cooking Theatre alongside top chefs Ray
McVinnie, Peta Mathias, Annabelle White and Julie le Clerc as well as BBQ Gourmet’s Raymond van Rijk, Andy Glover of
Sileni Estate and wine guru Belinda Jackson.
The Food Show is being held at Westpac Stadium, on Waterloo Quay in Wellington. Daily admission is $20 and the event is
