A busy Auckland supermarket was evacuated earlier tonight after a fire was lit inside the store. Woolworths Papakura in Auckland was immediately evacuated after smoke and ash filled the supermarket building, and prompted an emergency evacuation.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and it is still unclear what has happened. Customers and Staff assembled in the carpark and watched as the building burned. Nobody was hurt. The perimeter was sealed off by police and a safety zone has been set up. Damage is still unknown.
This has come just weeks after a building at Papakura High School was set alight. Emergency services are still at the scene.
