Public gets chance to walk the Hamilton 400 V8 circuit
Hamiltonians and visitors to the city are invited to walk the track for the new Hamilton 400 V8 Supercar event on Thursday 17 April.
This is a unique opportunity with the circuit being complete and closed a day before the racing starts. The circuit will be closed only from the Friday in future years, thus this being a one-off opportunity to see the event area from the track, just as the drivers will on race day.
The Hamilton 400 organisers will open to track to the public for a one hour window to walk the 3.4km circuit between 2pm and 3pm only on Thursday 17 April.
Entry is only through the gates on the corner of Tristram and Mill St, and can only be accessed via the Waikato Stadium side of Tristram St via Abbotsford St or Whitiora St.
All people interested in the walk need to be aware that there is no parking in Abbotsford St, Tristram St, Willoughby St and Richmond R d. They will need to walk to the venue. Parking control will be in operation.
The walk time is strictly limited to one hour and public wanting to complete the full 3.4km should ensure they can do so within the one hour timeframe.
The gates for entry on to the circuit will close at 2.30pm sharp.
