Transit need to get it right
Kapiti Coast District Mayor Jenny Rowan is urging Transit New Zealand and their contractor “to get it right” on MacKay’s Crossing.
“Just when Kapiti Coast motorists thought the resealing work on the MacKay’s Crossing overbridge was nearing completion and the massive disruptions we have sufferered were coming to an end, we find that the technical difficulties are on-going and the delays are likely to continue.
“Transit seems to be blaming motorists for the delays because they’re driving slower than the posted limit.
“Motorists driving slowly to avoid having their windscreens smashed seems reasonable to me.
“Poor management of the process just seems to be making the situation worse.
“On behalf of Kapiti Coast motorists, I must call on Transit to get on with it and fix the problems as quickly as possible, reduce the disruption as much as possible and for everyone’s sake, do it once and do it right,” Mayor Rowan said.
