Unique invitation to regional tourism operators
20 MARCH 2008
For Immediate Release
Waikato tourism operators are being invited to participate in reinforcing the region as a destination through the Visit
Hamilton Tourism Conference 2008 on 31 March 2008 from 1pm-10pm.
Council is collaborating with Tourism New Zealand and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise to host the Visit Hamilton
Tourism Conference: On Track to Success. The impetus behind the conference is to offer local and regional operators in
the visitor industry the opportunity to come together and strengthen future industry directions through establishing a
shared approach and engaging in relevant learning.
i-SITE Visit Hamilton manager Liz Stolwyk says the Visit Hamilton Tourism Conference is a milestone for the regional
visitor industry and represents a unified approach to strengthening this industry through collaboration.
“The Visit Hamilton Tourism Conference represents a commitment to pro-active co-ordination of the tourism sectors of
Hamilton and the Waikato region. All operators in this industry have an opportunity to make significant gains from
attending this conference.
“The conference is unique in that we’ve taken it mobile. Throughout the day, attendees will move from Le Grand to
Waikato Stadium and to Novotel. Attendees can expect an interactive experience that offers them the opportunity to
learn, develop their product, network with fellow operators and achieve greater leverage through upcoming major events.
“A range of guest speakers will be presenting throughout the conference, including Hamilton City Council CEO Michael
Redman and Hamilton mayor Bob Simcock.”
Local and regional tourism operators can register for the conference by contacting Council’s Visit Hamilton marketing
executive Kelly Fox on ph. 07 958 5960 or email. kelly.fox@visithamilton.co.nz .
