Give your views on Takapuna bus station revamp

We’re asking the community to give their views over the next few weeks on the proposed upgrade design for Takapuna bus
station.
The upgrade will see big improvements to the quality of bus shelters at the station as well as better signage, lighting,
seating and new security cameras. This follows previous consultation in 2005 where we gave the public three options for
an upgrade of the bus station. As a result from the consultation the refurbishment option was selected. We have gone
ahead with the appropriate design for that option.
This includes:
* Upgrading existing bus shelters with better weather protection and seating
* A new plaza area better linking the bus station with the Takapuna CBD
* Improved pedestrian crossing
* Improved signage and lighting
* New toilets
* Security cameras
* Improved landscaping and paving
* Minor road widening.
The road widening will give buses safer passage when pulling in and out of the station.
North Shore City Council’s project team manager Graham Nell says the new design will greatly improve the public
transport experience for bus users.
“The upgrade provides a much brighter, lighter and modern station for Takapuna,” says Mr Nell.
“With better weather protection and signage we’re sure bus passengers will appreciate the improvements,” he says.
“And the new plaza area will be a welcome addition to the Takapuna CBD, giving the people a place to meet friends and
relax.”
There is public information evening on April 2, from 4pm to 7pm, at the Takapuna Community Board room, 2 The Strand,
Takapuna.
