Art Auction, Newton Central School Hall, Monmouth Street, Grey Lynn
On Sunday 16th March an extraordinary exhibition of contemporary artworks will be auctioned at Newton Central School
Hall to support their innovative Maori bilingual unit. The contributing artists include many familiar names alongside
specially selected fresh talent, offering a range of paintings, sculpture, photography, and fabric and fibre art.
Some of the works have been produced specifically for the auction while others have been specially released from back
catalogue, providing a unique opportunity to purchase artworks unavailable elsewhere.
The auction starts at 3pm on Sunday; previewing is available from 5-7pm on Saturday 15th March, and from 1pm until the
auction begins on Sunday. Absentee bids will be accepted, and several limited edition works will be available with a
buy-now option.
Nearly 40 artists have recognised the importance of the Maori language initiatives offered by Newton Central, and
practical support has been provided by DDB, The Area Artists Management, Peak Displays, Sharp Frames and Lothlorien
Winery Limited. Please join us at this exclusive opportunity to purchase fine art and uphold a new generation of te reo
speakers.
