ARC encourages submissions to Royal Commission on Auckland Governance

Auckland Regional Council has welcomed the Royal Commission of Inquiry discussion document on Auckland’s Governance and
is encouraging the regional community to read it and make a submission.
Chairman Michael Lee says it’s important that the Royal Commission hears from a wide range of individuals and agencies
across the region to ensure a balanced decision making process.
“This is an opportunity for ordinary ratepayers to have their say on how local and regional government operate and to
participate in a process that could shape the region now and for years for come,” he says.
“My hope is the Royal Commission will recommend changes that measurably improve local government in our region, are cost
effective, efficient and workable.
“The Royal Commission has designed two very user-friendly submission forms – a short and a long version – that should
make it easy for the public to comment,” he said.
Mr Lee says he will be working closely with fellow elected regional representatives to prepare a submission to the
commission
Mr Lee encourages Aucklanders interested in the Royal Commission of Inquiry on Auckland’s Governance to visit the
council’s website and/or contact their regional council representative with any questions and make a submission.
