Spend Easter in Croatia without leaving Auckland!
Join the team at Soljans Estate in Kumeu Wine Country over the Easter weekend to celebrate the Croatian grape Harvest, ‘Berba’.
The traditional “Berba” harvest festival started back in the 18th century in Croatia and is still celebrated there today. While everyone should experience “Berba” at least once in their lives, booking an air ticket to Croatia is unnecessary, because it is also celebrated in style much closer to home at Soljans Estate Winery, who are continuing the family tradition here in New Zealand. This Easter, Soljans will celebrate their 6th Berba Festival since relocating to their popular new winery near Kumeu and yet again this promises to be a fun time for all the family.
There is always a buzz around Soljans Winery when the grapes are being harvested, so if you've harboured a secret desire to do some grape crushing, this is your opportunity! After stomping those grapes underfoot, you can treat yourself to a well earned wine tasting with the friendly staff in the cellar door. Try new release 2005 Barrique Reserve Chardonnay and the refreshing “Novo Vino” (new wine) juice that has started fermenting.
Relax in the award winning café and sample the seasonal fresh menu plus traditional style Croatian food platters. The kids are well looked after too with their own dedicated menu in the café plus free Easter eggs after they've had a go at grape stomping!
At Soljans you'll also discover Croatian people are as passionate about music as they are about wine with the fabulous Croatian dance group Kolo on Sunday from 3pm and on Monday Guenter Fisher entertains with live music from 12pm.
To see how a busy, well established winery operates, go on the daily tour at 1.15pm and get some inside knowledge from our friendly team.
The Berba Festival, this Easter at Soljans Estate Winery, State Highway 16, Kumeu. You couldn't get much closer to Croatia unless you went there!
