Waimauku Structure Plan - Clarification
20 February 2008
Rodney District Council clarifies Waimauku Structure Plan process.
The distribution of a newsletter outlining four proposals for the future of the Waimauku township has drawn a clarifying statement from the Rodney District Council’s Strategy and Community Director, Warren Maclennan.
Mr Maclennan says that only three of the proposals, published in the newsletter have been developed in the council’s Structure Plan process.
The fourth is a private proposal by Cornerstone – ‘Waimauku Estate’ who has lodged a Private Plan Change request with council.
But, Maclennan says, the council would like feedback on all four proposals, because the offer distinct choices on how the Waimauku township could developed in the future.
1. Structure Plan proposal 1 – Low density township (down zoning – reducing existing development/subdivision opportunities)
2. Structure Plan proposal 2 – Medium density township (no change to existing zonings)
3. Structure Plan proposal 3 – Limited urban expansion (south east fringes)
and
4. Private proposal – Significant urban expansion (Cornerstone - ‘Waimauku Estate’)
A feedback form was included with the newsletter and is available on the council’s website at www.rodney.govt.nz The closing date for feedback is March 28.
Once feedback has been received, Mr Maclennan says, Councillors will make a decision on which proposal (or a mix of the proposals) to include in the draft Waimauku Structure Plan.
The draft structure plan will then be made available for further public consultation.
