Teenager with neck injury transferred from Wairarapa
The Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to Riversdale in the Wairarapa just before 7pm tonight.
The helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic onboard, arrived at the scene around 7:30pm.
A 16 year old Masterton woman was injured when she fell off the back of a quad bike at low speed.
"Apparently the bike reared backwards and she fell off, injuring her neck" says Westpac Rescue Helicopter crewman Dave Greenberg. "Initially she had no feeling in her lower limbs but feeling was starting to return by time we arrived at hospital".
The woman was stabilised and flown to the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where she is currently being assessed and treated.
