Council Seeks Photos of Large Swells
Hawke's Bay Regional Council coastal engineers are asking people to send copies of any photos or videos taken of the large swells this weekend – or any time in the future.
This might include photos of significant erosion or property damage.
“Photographic or video information can be really useful to our information and research base, through better understanding of the impact that these large easterly swells can have on coastal areas,” said coastal engineer Neil Daykin.
“Our area of interest is anywhere between Mahanga in the north to Porangahau in the south.”
The high seas this weekend washed over the Marine Parade pathway at Napier and undermined a garage at Haumoana while also providing great pleasure for surfies.
