Power restored on Kapiti Coast - 11 Feb 2008
Media advisory
Transpower advises that power has now been restored to the Kapiti Coast following a lightening strike on a Takapu Road circuit at 7:50am this morning. Power was restored to the area at approximately 9am.
Transpower’s Communications Manager said that the power outage affected the Paraparaumu and Pauatahanui areas.
"Transpower had one of the Takapu Road circuits out for routine maintenance, when a lightening strike caused the second Takapu Road circuit to trip."
"In order to restore power to the region, the line that was out for maintenance needed to be put back into service. Ground crews worked as quickly as possible to do this and had power restored by 9am."
