Downer EDI Works Joins Kaipara Team
Kaipara District Council is pleased to welcome Downer EDI Works (known as ‘Works’) to the Kaipara team. Works has won the Water and Wastewater Operations and Maintenance Contract with Kaipara District Council to ensure the ongoing management of treatment plants and reticulation systems within the Kaipara District.
The three year contract, worth a total of $5 million, covers the communities of Dargaville, Baylys Beach and Awakino Point, Glinks Gully, Maungaturoto, Ruawai, Kaiwaka, and Te Kopuru.
This important contract for Kaipara District Council involves the ongoing management of treatment plants to provide safe drinking water and wastewater disposal. Its awarding will give the Kaipara District Council a further platform to promote the district as a clean and healthy place to live and raise a family.
The contract, which was signed on February 5, has been warmly welcomed by both parties.
Welcoming Works to the Council team, Kaipara District Council Chief Executive Jack McKerchar said Kaipara was facing a number of challenges in the areas of water and wastewater.
“We are looking forward to Works providing strong management and monitoring systems along with proactive reporting on performance and state of our assets,” he said.
Downer EDI Works Water Sector General Manager, Mark Malcolm said Works was delighted to be part of Kaipara’s investment in the District’s water and wastewater maintenance. He added that in recent years Works has put significant investment into its management capabilities to participate in partnerships that deliver industry-leading levels of service.
“We are really pleased to work with Kaipara. To us partnerships are about providing first class solutions that enable our customers to manage essential infrastructure in a manner than gives best value to their communities.”
