Heritage Item Assistance Fund

Rodney District Council have opened the Heritage Item Assistance Fund for its fourth year, with applications closing on
April 18.
The Heritage Item Assistance Fund is a is a contestable fund that has been increased to $50,000 this year.љ It is open
to the public for the purpose of conserving, restoring, and protecting valued heritage items within the Rodney District
for the enjoyment and benefit of current and future generations.
The fund is primarily available for heritage items within the Rodney district that are protected љin the Proposed
District Plan.љ
The fund is available for any projects that have a purpose of conserving, restoring, and protecting valued heritage
items such as restoration or repair of original heritage fabric relating to historic buildings or structures or
professional services (e.g. research, condition reports, conservation plans).
Funding applications are assessed by a heritage architect based on urgency, public access and visibility, level of
enhancements and hertiage status.
Since the fund first opened in 2005, twenty-seven of Rodney District’s listed heritage buildings have been given grants
including St Leonards Church in Matakana, Helensville’s Union Bank, the Puhoi Hotel, Henley House in Kaukapakapa and the
Mahurangi West Hall.
