Poetry Day at Karori Sanctuary Sunday 3 February. 2pm-8pm
On Sunday 3 February Karori Sanctuary is offering visitors the chance to enjoy an afternoon of poetry and prose readings from acclaimed writers with a passion for the land Participating writers include:
-Jenny Bornholdt - Former Poet Laureate
-David Young - author of 'Our Islands, Our Selves'
-Dinah Hawken - recent 'Poet in Residence' at the Botanic Gardens
- Hilary Elfick - UK writer/broadcaster and author of 'An Ordinary Storm'
-Lynn Davidson - Creative Writing Tutor at Whitirea Polytechnic
-Keith Westwater - Lower Hutt-based poet
-Hinemoana Baker - Paekakariki-based writer/performer
Readings begin at 4.30pm. There will also be activities for budding poets from 2pm, including talks with the writers and a chance to contribute to our 'Poet-Tree'. This is the perfect excuse for people to round up their friends and family, pack a picnic and enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon at the award-winning Sanctuary. No need to book. General admission fees apply. $12/adults. $5/children (5-16). $29/family (2 adults and up to 3 kids). Under-fives and members get in for FREE!
