Westpac Rescue Helicopter responds to Quad bike accident
The Wellington based Westpac Rescue helicopter responded at approx 10:30 this morning to a farm accident just north of Eketahuna.
The alarm was raised by one of the by one of the farm hand and a St John ambulance responded to the scene, Unfortunately they were unable to get the ambulance close enough to treat and transport the paitent. The Wellington Westpac rescue helicopter was called due to the Palmerston North Sqare trust helicopter already doing another case.
The eighteen year old male sustained a serious upper leg fracture and was flown to the Palmerston North Hospital emergency department where he was last in a stable condition .
The young man had been on the ground injured for a long time and his colleagues had done a great job at keeping him warm and waiting for the help to arrive
