Police spent yesterday afternoon making further enquires with the public of Taupo. These enquires are focusing on the
final movements of the victim of this particularly nasty homicide, Karen Aim.
The head of the investigation Det Senior Sergeant Greg Turner said that there are two main aspects to these enquires.
The overnight licensed premises phase, and continuing with an extensive areas canvas phase.
Both of these phases have supplied the investigation with information that has assisted the investigation team with
determining Karen's final movements.
Mr Turner would like to express his gratitude on behalf of the investigation team to the public who have, and are
continuing, to give Police vital information about Karen's last movements. Mr Turner has re emphasised that the flow of
information from the public is crucial to solving this homicide.
Mr Turner also said that the blessing last evening at the place where Karen was viciously assaulted was particularly
poignant for Karen's friends who attended. Also the large numbers of public who attended demonstrates the depth of
feeling in the community about this attack.
The 50 Police staff are continuing with enquiry work today. There is still a lot of work to do and information to
process however Mr Turner says that the investigation team is focused and working towards solving this homicide.
Mr Turner is reiterating his call that the persons or persons who were responsible for breaking the windows at Taupo nui
A Tia College overnight on the 16th and 17th January to come forward and speak to the Police.
Today the Police are continuing to scene examine the College and the wider area.
Mr Turner has asked again that if anyone who is in the area finds anything that is out of the ordinary is foreign to
there backyard of rubbish bin or does not belong at their place to contact the investigation team at the Taupo Police
