Police have located the Toyota Van which they were seeking after an incident in the North Shore suburb of Northcote on Wednesday.
Police attended the incident in Martin Crescent at about 2.30pm after the Toyota vehicle was driven across the full body of a female in her twenties.
The victim suffered moderate injuries as a result of the action.
Inspector Gary Davey, Tactical Response Manager says a female registered owner brought the Toyota Van to the North Shore Policing Centre yesterday.
"The owner was aware of the high media profile being given to her vehicle and this influenced her decision to call and speak directly to us," he said.
"A forensic examination of the vehicle has already started and police are also following strong leads in efforts to identify the male driver allegedly involved in the incident."
"The victim will remain in hospital for a few more days. Her condition is stable."
"Although no charges have yet been laid, this status is likely to soon change," Inspector Davey said.
