Dinosaur to take in city sights this Thursday
Basil - one of the stars of the Gondwana show about to open at Auckland Museum has requested his handlers take him to some of the key sights of Auckland. Basil, who normally lives at Auckland Museum has been touring with the internationally acclaimed theatre show Gondwana: Land of the Giants, and after delighting hundreds of thousands of children around the world, has developed a taste for the high life of a star on tour.
Through his handlers Basil has expressed some displeasure in that while he has toured the major cities of Australia, South Korea, Malaysia and even Hollywood, he has yet to venture beyond the Museum and the Domain in Auckland - his adopted hometown.
To rectify this - and to keep him happy for the opening shows this Wednesday the handlers have agreed to take Basil for a trip to town and the beach on Thursday. Basil is only one of a handful of dinosaurs kept by a few museums through the world, so this is a unique opportunity to see a creature that inhabited the earth 80 million years ago.
Basil will be in Vulcan Lane at 10am
And then in Mission Bay at 12pm
As usual, Basil welcomes cameras.
