Modern day reindeer help collect gifts for Auckland City Mission’s Christmas Appeal
Urgent Couriers have turned into modern day reindeer to help the Auckland City Mission make sure every Auckland child can celebrate Christmas this year.
The certified carbon neutral courier company is providing a free courier pick up of items donated by its business customers across Auckland to the Auckland City Mission in Hobson Street.
Auckland businesses, large and small, are being asked to donate festive food treats and other non-perishable food items, and presents for children aged 10-16 as part of the Mission’s Christmas Appeal.
Every year the Mission gives out 25,000 presents to children who would otherwise receive nothing from Santa, and makes up Christmas hampers so families can celebrate Christmas at home.
“We’ve had more than 40 of our business customers register their interest in getting donation boxes set up,” says Steve Bonnici, Managing Director of Urgent Couriers.
“Urgent Couriers’ free courier pick up will ensure that all items donated by businesses are collected and delivered on time for the Auckland City Mission to distribute to those who would otherwise go without.
“We’d like to encourage more Auckland businesses to set up Christmas present collection boxes and contribute to this worthy cause” says Mr. Bonnici.
It’s great when businesses get in behind our Appeal like this, says Auckland City Missioner Diane Robertson. “We need all the help we can get.”
“Urgent Couriers have been long time supporters of our Christmas Appeal. This year they have taken it a step further, which we truly appreciate. We’re delighted with the response they’ve had from their customers, which will help us complete our Christmas mission of making Christmas happen for every Auckland child.”
