New Plymouth Escaped Prisoners Recaptured

Location of incident: New Plymouth
Incident Type: Escaped prisioners recaptured
On the 5th December 2007 ,two sentenced inmates escaped from Montgomery House in Hamilton where they were attending a programme prior to being returned to prison.
They are Shaun Christopher STAPLES aged 30 years who is serving a life sentence for Murder ; and John Mangaroa POUAKA aged 33 years who was serving an 8 year sentence for Aggravated Robbery.
Both men were located and arrested by New Plymouth AOS squad at a residential address in Bell Block , New Plymouth at 10.15 pm Sunday 9th December 2007 . They were arrested without incident and both will be appearing in New Plymouth District Court on 10/12/07.
Police are continuing with enquiries and further charges may be pending in relation to person or persons who may have assisted or harboured the escapees.
