Appointment Of District Commander Waikato

The Commissioner of Police, Howard Broad, is pleased to announce the appointment of Superintendent Alan Boreham as District Commander for Waikato.
Superintendent Boreham is currently the Centre Manager of the Northern Communications Centre in Auckland and previously Area Commander for the Eastern Waikato Area based in Thames.
Superintendent Boreham has wide experience in policing since joining in 1985 as a Constable in Auckland. He was a member of the Auckland CIB and Drug Squad before moving to Tokoroa as section Sergeant and then Detective Sergeant. He moved back to Auckland as head of the Fraud Squad. In 2001 he was promoted to Inspector as Strategic Adviser in Road Policing at Office of the Commissioner in Wellington and became Road Policing Manager for Wellington District in 2005.
He will take up his new appointment early in the new year.
The Commissioner would like to acknowledge Superintendent Kelvin Powell's very significant contribution to policing in the Waikato District over the past five years.
A number of alternative roles are being discussed with Superintendent Powell around his next deployment within New Zealand Police.
