Christmas comes alive at Auckland Zoo
Bring the whole family along to ASB Christmas at the Zoo on Sunday, 16 December for a magical fun-filled evening to
celebrate a New Zealand Christmas and a special birthday.
Matt Gibb and Dayna Vawdrey from TV2’s Studio 2 will host this festive South Pacific-style celebration that will feature
non-stop entertainment at the band rotunda and the celebration of Auckland Zoo’s 85th birthday.
The Zoolus band will play all your Christmas favourites. There will also be outstanding performances from local and
Pacific Island cultural groups, the chance to win great prizes, animal encounters throughout the night, and a giant
birthday cake.
The zoo will sparkle with fairies and walking Christmas trees. Children can get their faces painted free, have their
photo taken with Santa, and enjoy fun rides and interactive games, including a giant obstacle course and the ASB Tennis
Speedserve.
By purchasing an ASB Kashin Dollar to help support “Ark in the Park”, guests will be in to win prizes. This Waitakere
based project is helping to protect our native birds, by eradicating pests such as rats and stoats.
“We want to celebrate a great Kiwi Christmas, while also reinforcing the message of giving back at Christmas. By
purchasing an ASB Kashin Dollar, people will be giving back to their backyard – the Waitakere Ranges – where “Ark in the
Park” is working to create an amazing 2000ha predator-free sanctuary”, says Auckland Zoo events and sponsorship
coordinator, Jackie Sanders.
