Community Police Report

On the 8th of November Police were contacted in relation to a middle
aged male who was witnessed walking naked along a track which leads to
the beach at Warrington, the man was apprehended by Police a short
time later just south of Palmerston and was subsequently arrested. He
could not provide an adequate explanation for his actions and the
witness was disgusted by what she had observed. A 48 year old farmer
from Kakanui Valley will be appearing at the Dunedin District Court in
December in relation to this.
On the 9th of November an incident occurred at Waikouaiti involving
two young persons and a sling shot. The pair fired several stones at
passing motorists along Beach Street, hitting at least four moving
vehicles. It was fortunate no one was injured or serious damage caused
to the victims cars. The youngsters were spoken to by Police and
admitted to causing the nuisance; as a result one young person has
been referred to Dunedin Police Youth Aid.
A truck crash occurred on Monday the 19th of November along State
Highway One just south of Hawksbury, the truck left the road and
struck a power pole causing several homes in the area to experience a
strong power surge which interfered with electrical appliances. No one
was injured in the crash which took emergency services most of the day
to clear; Police are continuing to make inquiries in relation to this
incident.
A dispute between a woman from Palmerston and her ex partner occurred
outside the Waikouaiti Police on Sunday the 4th of November, the
matter was relatively minor however the female party would not remain
to speak with Police. She was located a short time later along State
Highway One just south of Waikouaiti, and received almost $2000 worth
of infringement notices.
Other incidents this month include the theft of an electricians work
vehicle and tools from outside an address at Warrington. It appears a
related vehicle, stolen from North Dunedin was abandoned nearby.
Fortunately for the tradesman some of his tools were recovered by
Police at Oamaru, Police however continue to investigate this matter.
Lastly I would like to welcome Senior Constable Nigel VOICE to the
district, before coming to relieve at Waikouaiti Senior Constable
VOICE was based at Dunedin, he will be relieving full time while
Constable EASON is on maternity leave.
