Car jacking after accident
Two women who stopped to inspect their vehicle after running over accident debris were assaulted and their vehicle stolen by a male involved in the accident.
One woman was beaten up by the male. The male had what was described as severe head injuries from the original accident and decamped in the women's vehicle. The male is Maori, over 6 feet tall medium build wearing a dark hoody and dark trousers.
The accident and aggravated robbery occurred near Mangatera Bridge Dannervirke at 0025 am this morning. The original accident involved a cat side swiping a truck.
Police are seeking witnesses to the accident and aggravated robbery.
Police are also looking for the stolen vehicle. The vehicle is a 1990 Mazda Familia coloured whiter Reg TY2496.
The male offender should be considered dangerous and any sightings reported to police immediately. It is also possible he is suffering from severe injuries as a result of the accident and may need urgent medical assistance.
