Group to guide sustainability focus
Hastings District Mayor Lawrence Yule is hosting a forum to decide the direction and membership of a proposed Sustainability Advisory Group.
The forum is open for all to attend and will take place in the Hastings District Council Chamber at 5.30pm on Thursday 29 November.
Mayor Lawrence Yule said the forum was designed to bring together people from all over the district who had an invested interest in issues of sustainability and the environment.
“I want to hear from any individual or group who has something positive to contribute because we have a prime opportunity here to put together a strong, forward-focused and progressive group passionate about sustainability. In the past we have paid lip-service to these issues. It is now time to push them to the forefront of our thinking and our decisionmaking,” said Mr Yule.
A Sustainability Advisory Group will be established out of the forum and will then meet on an on-going basis to add an environmental focus to the work of the Hastings District Council.
