Dunedin: Armed Offenders Incident

Media release on behalf of Acting Senior Sergeant Chris McLELLAN Dunedin Police.
At approximately 7pm on the 17th November 2007, Police were alerted to a firearms incident at an address in Ellison Road, Otakou, Dunedin.
Police received information that a male aged 24 years was in possession of a .303 rifle at this address.
Nine people were present at the time of this incident. Victims at this address were threatened with the firearm and forced to lie down on the ground. Two of the victims were physically assaulted and received minor injuries.
Dunedin Armed Offenders Squad and Police Negotiation Team were dispatched to this location.
A male was arrested without incident after he presented himself to a police cordon.
He has been held in custody to appear in the Dunedin District Court on Monday.
He has been charged with a number of firearms related offences.
