15th November 2007
Community Board Elects City Vision Leadership
Eden Albert's nine member multi-party combined City Vision, Focus Eden Albert and Citizens and Ratepayers board selected two City Vision members to lead the Board for the next 3 years at last night’s meeting.
Mr Christopher Dempsey, planner, academic and newbie cycle rider was elected Board chairperson. Mr Dempsey, a second term board member, said that Eden Albert faced some serious issues “The Royal Commission into Auckland’s governance, the proposed SH20, and the Rugby World Cup preparations are issues that will impact on residents in the years to come. Local issues like the proposed Balmoral McDonalds are also looming, and we will be working with the community in Balmoral to defeat the proposal.”
"Listening to our communities and doing the best for Eden Albert will be the Boards’ focus." said Mr Dempsey.
Mount Albert's Mr Phil Chase, a communication specialist and sustainable transport advocate was chosen to be Deputy Board Chairperson. “I am privileged to have been part of one of the most energetic Boards in the city in the last term, and I look forward to another productive term, as are other Board members.”
